Explore the Surroundings

Staying at Mulberry Houses means more than just peace and rest — you're also surrounded by some of the most charming and lesser-known treasures of Southern Lithuania. From ancient hillforts to honey wine traditions, sacred springs to panoramic church towers, here are some of the nearby places worth visiting.

Lepelionys Hillfort (Lepelionių piliakalnis)

Just a few minutes away, this ancient hillfort is wrapped in legends and silence. Climb to the top for a peaceful view of forests, meadows, and endless skies. A perfect spot for sunrise or golden-hour walks. The site still holds traces of old Baltic pagan times — it's a great mix of nature and history.

Stakliškės & the Mead Brewery

Stakliškės town is famous for its Lithuanian mead (midus) — a traditional honey wine made here for centuries. Visit the Lithuanian Mead Brewery (Lietuviškas Midus) to explore how this drink is crafted and enjoy a guided tasting session. The town itself is small and calm, with a few local cafes and shops worth stopping by.

Sacred Springs & Old Trees

The region is dotted with natural springs known for their clear water and local legends. Many are marked by old oak trees, wooden crosses, or small chapels. These spots are quiet, spiritual, and often found just off a forest path. Locals still believe in the healing power of these places — and it's easy to see why.

Pivašiūnai & the Hilltop Church

The village of Pivašiūnai is known for its hilltop church, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Pilgrims come here every year, but even if you're not religious, the panoramic views from the churchyard are worth the visit. There’s a small hill trail nearby and local bakeries with homemade treats.

Canoeing on the Verknė River

Looking for a little adventure? The Verknė River, just minutes away, offers one of Lithuania's most scenic kayaking routes. With several kayak rental points nearby, it's easy to plan a relaxing half-day paddle or a full-day trip through meadows, forests, and gentle rapids. Ideal for both beginners and experienced paddlers.

Outdoor Shooting Range

For those curious to try something different, a local shooting range nearby offers guided experiences with professional instructors. Whether you're a first-timer or simply looking for a new skill, it's a safe and memorable way to challenge yourself.

Lakes & Wild Swimming Spots

The Stakliškės–Aukštadvaris region is full of quiet lakes, ideal for a swim, a picnic or just a moment of calm. Ask us for directions to hidden swimming spots locals love — some have little piers, others are surrounded by wildflowers and trees.

Aukštadvaris Regional Park

A bit further, Aukštadvaris Regional Park offers forest trails, educational paths, and scenic viewpoints. Great for cycling, hiking or just forest bathing. You might even spot deer or foxes on an early morning walk.

A Day Trip to Birštonas

Only 30–40 minutes by car, Birštonas is a charming spa town by the Nemunas River. You’ll find mineral water fountains, walking trails, river cruises, and cozy restaurants. Don’t miss the Vytautas Hill for a panoramic view, or try local spa treatments for total relaxation.

Local Markets & Craft Shops

In summer, you can find roadside stands selling wild strawberries, fresh honey, herbal teas, or handmade crafts. Keep your eyes open on the way to town — the region’s rhythm is slow, but full of hidden flavors.
